Meitheal Mara (pronounced 'Meh-hill Mah-rah') translates roughly as workers of the sea. Meitheal can be roughly translated as ‘community’ and Mara literally means ‘of the sea’ in Gaelic. They are an established traditional boatyard aswell as maritime and cultural centre in the heart of Cork City.
